Curbside Trash & Recycling Collection
Shrewsbury Township mandates curbside trash & recycling collection for all properties within the Township. All properties must use the services provided by its contractor hauler, currently Penn Waste; only exceptions are commercial and industrial properties that utilize private dumpster service.
The current three (3) year contract is July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025. The Board of Supervisors can consider up to two (2) one (1) year extensions of that contract, if mutually agreed upon by Penn Waste.
There are two (2) service options available:
“Full-Service” is a weekly collection and includes one (1) 96-gallon trash cart (provided by Penn Waste), unlimited recycling (64-gallon cart provided by Penn Waste), and one (1) large (bulky) trash item. Please call Penn Waste prior to collection day to let them know that you will have a bulky trash item at the curb for collection.
“Pay Per Bag,” includes 26 bags for the year and unlimited curbside recycling (64-gallon cart provided by Penn Waste) . Large (bulky) trash items can be collected under this program; however, it requires the use of one (1) trash bag (attached to the item).

Contract rates are as follows:
July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023
- “Full-Service” (weekly) service – $342.00/year
- “Pay Per Bag” service – $260.00/year
- Extra Bags – $10.00 each
July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024
- “Full-Service” (weekly) service – $359.16/year
- “Pay Per Bag” service – $273.00/year
- Extra Bags – $10.50 each
July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025
- “Full-Service” (weekly) service – $377.04/year
- “Pay Per Bag” service – $286.00/year
- Extra Bags – $11.00 each
